Generation as in generation of people, concerning the pop culture made around their time.
As I said before, being nostalgic about what came in your time isn't a bad thing. But like I said before, some people go so fucking overboard it isn't funny. Also like I said before, though every generation does it, I find that those who were born in the late 80's/early 90's are the worst at this.
They don't seem to realize that yes, even today some TV stations still play shows from when they were kids. Why did I mention this?
Well, because when I was a kid a lot of 90's shows were still airing, so I got a really big dosage of 90's. Yet if you say you miss one of these shows they'll start screaming about 'YOU WEREN'T ACTUALLY THERE WHEN IT WAS MADE WHEN IT CAME FIRST ON YOU CAN'T BE NOSTALGIC IT WAS 90'S THE 90'S RULED YOU CAN'T LIKE IT IT WASN'T ON THEN.'
Oh, but they have many other baawing to tell. These are the people that won't shut up about:
"THE KIDS SHOW TODAY SUUUUCCCK SOOOOOO BAAAAAAAAD. AND THE KIDS MOVIES. REMEMBER WHEN THEY ACTUALLY ALL MEANT SOMETHING AND TAUGHT USS LESSSONS? THE SHOWS AND EVERYTHING ALL WERE MEANINGFUL."
Yes. Ren and Stimpy taught us much about how to tell our grandmothers to suck eggs.
"EVERYTHING TODAY SUCKS. THE ONLY GOOD STUFF WAS MADE WHEN I WAS FIVE AND BEFORE NO GOOD THING IS ABOUT TODAY IF YOU ENJOY TODAY YOU SUCK I FEEL SO BAD FOR THE GENERATION OF TODAY KFDJKFASDFDAFADS."
Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Guess what. Every generation said that. The young kids of today are going to be saying that in about a decade. People said it about your decade and - okay you turned out like that so that's not a good example, but still.
Calm your shit. Your generation wasn't THE BEST SPECHULS ONES EVAAAAAAAAAA. None were. They all had their perks. They all had their downfalls. Start moving on already. Cripes.
It is so annoying when overly nostalgic people whine about living in the present day. Being mentally stuck in the past does not make them superior to those who choose to enjoy the present. These idiots act like it is possible to choose the generation in which you were born, judging by the way they look down upon younger people for being born in a time period they don't like. The way nostalgic people treat the past as if it is better than the future is so naive and it makes me question these peoples' knowledge about history. There are actually more benefits of living in the present day than the past. Women are no longer considered inferior, racism is less prevalent, we have better medicine, people are more tolerant of homosexuality, we have laws against minimum wage and bad working conditions, and the list could go on. And don't get me started on present-day Beatles fans. They act like The Beatles were "TEH BEST BAND EVUR!!1!!!11 when The Beatles were actually no different from One Direction. Both One Direction and The Beetles write sappy love songs in order to make desperate teenage girls buy their music. Watch this video (especially the last two minutes of it) and you will know what I mean:www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXHmOp…
"EVERYTHING TODAY SUCKS. THE ONLY GOOD STUFF WAS MADE WHEN I WAS FIVE AND BEFORE NO GOOD THING IS ABOUT TODAY IF YOU ENJOY TODAY YOU SUCK I FEEL SO BAD FOR THE GENERATION OF TODAY KFDJKFASDFDAFADS." So...What if Hetalia was made in 1938 and Fantasia in 2009?
Of course they did. A lot of shows in the '90s sucked (CatDog and Rocket Power, as much as "The 90s are All That!" loves to show them every single night, for example), and some shows that have come out since then are good (Spongebob (pre-movie, and maybe the season after the movie, Penguins of Madagascar, Kim Possible, etc.). I can't speak for all other '90s kids, but in my view, it's more of an overall thing. A lot of the channels we grew up watching did a 180 from what they used to be, and there are some that have come back around (Cartoon Network, and, depending on your point of view, Disney Channel). I don't think there's any hope for Nickelodeon.
I hate when their like, "BAAAAWWW I MISS MY CHILDHOOD" and "KIDS SHOWS TODAY SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111" And I'm like, "You are in your damn 20's, why the hell would you would you even pay attention to kids shows today? And your childhood is NEVER coming back, so STOP complaining about it!" Some people need to learn how to move on. -_-
People on tumblr, facebook and other social sites go on and on about being a 90's kid. How they're soooo much better and how only 90's kids with remember these! -insert item here(i.e VHS tape)- My family STILL uses stuff for the 90's so obviously not only 90's would remember that stuff.
Finally, a stamp I agree with. My generation annoys the hell out of me. On tumblr there's a really dumb post that says "Reblog if ur a 90's kid and had common scene!1"
No, just no...I knew some 90's kids who were born in the same era as me and none of them seem to have any common scene at all. Even the ones on the internet.
90's kids on youtube are worser. They like to think they're mature adults when in reality I've seen so many of them act like immature brats. In fact from what I'v seen, a lot of 90's kids on the internet have become arrogant brats. Then again, I can be bratty myself.
I enjoy a lot of things in the 90's, but I really enjoy a lot of things that are made today the most. You're right, every generation has it's ups and downs.
You're telling me. I must be really glad I've been living in my own apartment over the past few years because I've been trying to focus more on helping out there, which is what I definitely prefer doing over "bitching" with the crowd.
That or you're a Nostalgiatard who really needs to get a hobby other than bashing other generations. 2000 had many good things, but since you're too high and mighty to care, it's useless talking to you.
I was listening to the radio last night, during the hour where they played old school music from the 90's. Before the break, they said something along the lines of: "People often say that the 90's music was far better than todays... Obviously they don't remember Hanson."
People seem to forget that the Boy Band plague was at large long before One Direction and Justin fucking Bieber. The 90's had a shit load of bad music as much as good music the same way we do today.
But is there any argument that determines that the 90's were the best decade outside of going on about it's popular culture? Pop culture doesn't really determine which decade was the best. It's arbitrary.
You gotta admit that times have improved greatly in terms of social issues, technology and similar actually important issues since the 90's/80's, rather that "popular culture" which shouldn't matter one bit. There is no "best decade".
Yes, some pop nowadays is really terrible, but the world isn't going to end because of it. I'm so tired of people complaining about new music. Good music actually still exists, even a lot of good pop, it's just that everyone pretty much ignores it to complain about the bad stuff on the charts.
yes. Maybe some people with feelings!not emotionless guys have also noticed that the energy of the 90s were quite different to the 2000 and also to the last 2Y .Something must change in the world, because the energy levels changed and they were in the 90s stronger, more and sometimes better than yet, but! there were also the big big negatives energies all the days around.
(No one will understand this part when he never had any emotions for anything or anyone)
1995 changed this strange fact a bit. Also the Videogames and everything which was really going on before and after this changed the 90s.
the music today is known in good words as tween Rave or Wave, this goes to all songs which has this belling sound in it with dance and bass sounds. but the time before tween wave comes up was sometimes good, sometimes bad and when someones knows our europe then all will see it has different ways of music as US,Canada ....
I will not list on all tween rave songs, but pitbull, chris brown and all this songs have this typical tween rave thing in it,since 2009. South park said it too:tween rave is the new pop of 2009-2012,but no one knows the real history of it anymore
OOGIELOVES. That's the Y210's EPIC FAIL OF CINEMA. Honestly, it's like a bad 80's kids show. But worse. For the Y2K's, that would be AVH: Alien vs. Hunter. It recieved a 1.7 rating on IMDb. That's worse than MegaShark vs. Crocosaurus, or any movie I've EVER seen on IMDb.
