I do mean on DA - and I do mean under certain circumstances.

A bit back, and people might remember just from me explaining, a person made that internet billboard that was 'I'll draw what I like'. 99% of people who were against it thought it meant 'I REFUSE TO TAKE CRITIQUES!' when it meant 'even though a lot of people don't like the CONTENT within my drawings I'll still draw what I'll love'. It made a huge mess of more people completely misunderstanding it when the original problem that started that 'billboard' had nothing to do with criticism to the art style, anatomy, anything - it was just what exactly she was drawing, and it was a fetish.

Though a tame one compared to the many others you'll see littered over this site, one that isn't bad enough to be deemed reportable for DA, it was one I didn't like...but I didn't get the fuss.

I remember trying to explain to someone that the message wasn't of people critiquing her work but instead people trying to stop her from drawing what she enjoys. They sort of immediately back pedaled into 'that's what I actually meant why can't we critique what exactly she draws?'

Well, you can.

But if they're doing something they like, something not against the rules, something that isn't overly sexualized, something that isn't porn, something that they drew from scratch so you can't shove that rule against them...what's the point? You know they're going to continue as they aren't hurting anyone and aren't doing anything ban-worthy, so more than likely unless you give them an ACTUAL critique (just saying you don't like the fact that they draw something you don't like isn't a critique, by the way) your comment will more than likely fly over their head.

I'm okay with people drawing what they want, but if their ENTIRE gallery
is filled with one kind of fetish art or something, they should make some-
thing unrelated to their fetish.

I get this a lot on a gaming forum, though. I hate when this happens. I just draw sexy stuff mainly for fun. People are allowed to draw this kind of stuff, so I agree with you. At least SploderianRich is okay with it.

I can handle criticism..it's just the nitpicky and annoying kind or one that borders on trolling that drive me nuts,  either that or the overly-analytical type that tries-to-add-way-too-much-logic-for-something-that-you're-not-supposed-to-think-too-hard-about.  Also I feel that if one has to do exactly what others tell you to do and it's not something helpful or to do something different for the only reason being 'Oh,  I feel if you dropped this 'insert-character-being-turned-into-monster-against-their-own-will' thing maybe people will like you more',  then well...I feel that in a way that's kind of forceful.  I mean I think we all know we can't please everyone and we can't all like the same thing or else it would be boring.

I'll draw what I like, however, I'll still take criticism if necessary, and by criticism I don't mean "BAWW ITZ DISGUSTING KILL YOURSELF" or anything like that. Issues about anatomy, discoloration or whatever I'll take into account.

I've seen people say to others who enjoy drawing sexualised fanart of characters that "the characters where not made for you to sexualise" um...since when? The creator never said anything about what you can and can't draw. I don't think they care either.

Drawing had power. Anything is possible when you use your imagination, and whatever you draw makes you who you are and that's makes you special in your own way. Haruhi Suzumiya Emote - Thumbs Up

People says that *johnjoseco is overrated because he draw ponies, I meant, seriously people, he's allowed to draw whatever he want, If he want to draw ponies, it's his choice and we need to respect it!

Like a lot of Deviants have said (from the comments below), if you see art you don't like, move on. It's that simple.

I can see what you`re saying. If someone really likes what they draw, you won`t be able to stop them.

yeah, what really gets me is that people get angry when all you draw is ponies but are totally fine when all you draw is cats, humans etc.
I mean, what if...
ALL THEY WANT TO DRAW IS PONIES! it's their gallery.

People 13 + should be able to handle sexuality/fetishism. Besides, if there was a content warning, they have no right to bitch!!! I=< This is a place for mature people who can handle differences in taste and expression. Unless it's something discriminatory or involves the harm of real people, I don't really care.

I like furries, so I draw furries. I would enjoy critiques on how I draw my furries. I would not like critiques on what I like to draw.
There is a massive difference. Even if I don't enjoy someone's fetish myself (for example, the diaper fetish stuff really creeps me out), if I see the art of that sort of fetish, I just move on; UNLESS I see the artist personally harassing or being cruel to other people about it.
A lot of people don't realize that freedom of expression is a two-way street. I am free to draw my animal characters and therefore people are free to not like me because I like to draw those characters, but I believe that it is immoral to harass or flame someone over their ideas and therefore, it is immoral for the person they were harassing to harass them back for their opinions.

 I've really given up on caring at this point.
I'm not even sure if that makes sense at all xDD

This, my dear Endy, just this

So long as your art isn't blatantly offensive or inappropriate, why should what people want you to do affect what you want to post here?
If you like to draw, draw away

Holy cow can I like...give you a million internets? There are a lot of things on here that I'm not a fan of, but I never really got why it's so hard for some people to just bypass such items and forget they even entered their day when it's not something that goes against the rules of the site.

I'm pretty sure I even draw things that people are like, "Wow your art is weird and creepy you should stop." but if I'm the one drawing, I'ma draw it. >:l!!! >8lll loljk I get really self-conscious about that sometimes but I still draw what I like to.

This is an art sight, for people to share their art. Just let people do what they want (Of course if it is allowed)
