Unless you're looking for help, want to flesh out your character but needs help, or if you're roleplaying with me, I personally don't care if I come across a Mary-Sue character.

Because, as the title said, honestly, there are no more characters that are not because like every other term on the internet people are slapping it on everything they see, and now having any fucking trait can make your character into a horrible character.

Having a bad backstory can make them a Mary-Sue.
Oh, but wait, having a really perfect one can do the same.

Having the colours 'red, black, or gray' anywhere on them makes them a Mary-Sue because apparently those are overused colours and the second you have any tint of any kind from that colour your character is an emo freak that sucks.

Being perfect makes them a Mary-Sue. Yet, having flaws make them a Mary-Sue. Just having any power at all can make them a Mary-Sue. But if you make a normal human then it's far too boring. Having any disorder makes them a Mary-Sue. Yet, again, normal human people will see it as boring.

Being more prominently happy makes them a Mary-Sue.
Being more prominently depressed makes them a Mary-Sue.

And the most stupid: Give your female character a bra size bigger than B and she's immediately a Mary-Sue. She cannot have noticeable boobs or she is a horrible, unoriginal character.

:stare: And thus why only for those two reasons I don't care. It's now fucking impossible to dictate whether the mass majority of OC's are truly Mary-Sues except for the...obvious even-the-girls-want-them Godmod things you usually see in fandoms such as the Happy Tree Friends.
Though even then; I just cannot find it in my to scrabble up any shits for those sorts of more blatant characters.

And on the other side...it's fucking impossible to get a good critique anyway. :stare: Most people will just simply say 'UR CHARACTER SUX ITS SUCH A MARY SUE' and then leave.
If they don't just say that, they'll list everything up there while another person uses the opposite points to say that a character is unoriginal.

Impossibul. The term all together, like every other single one the internet has shoved out of its womb, is becoming over used to the fucking bone.

I'm proud of being a so-called "Mary-Sue"~ everyone should be proud of their own characters no matter what other people think of them. ^^

Good to see that Mary Sue has joined the ranks of words that no longer have any meaning thanks to stupid people; irony was starting to get lonely.

Thus people are taking advantage of something with no direct definition. However, some wikis finally do have direct definitions...people should take a look at them.

Also, people are too judgemental of OCs.

The most baffling thing is how desirable, undesirable, neutral and contradictory traits fall under one term.

What happened to the over-the-top perfect walking deus ex machina character that takes over the story meaning?

Too much attention is given to traits that have no bearing on the plot.

The highly pejorative nature and misuse of this term is handcuffing creativity.

I've...pretty much given up on trying to "fix" any character of mine and not make them Sues. Especially in joke RPs with friends where the very goal is to cram as many improbable things into a single character as possible and make those improbable things work.

Nicely said. My character got called a Mary Sue by someone whose character would also be a Mary Sue. Except I didn't call hers a Mary Sue since I didn't want to crush her ego or anything. It's not nice.

When writing sci-fi/fantasy fiction there really is no way to avoid the Sue/Stu stigma, so I gave up trying to go out of my way to make my babies Sue-trait-free. Besides, they would be extremely boring of I did, because the trait list is so expansive.
