Sort of in response to the heaps of stamps that proclaim to the world 'I hate all kids/teens' with the sole reasoning being 'because they're a bunch of whiny brats.'
First, just: no. No. No.
This is one of the reasonings for something I cannot understand, saying you hate every single person who's under the age of seventeen because...apparently you've managed to meet every single one and can immediately tell that the entire group of 4-17 year olds in the whole world, within every country, is a sniveling brat.
...why do you simply limit it to those ages?
Age doesn't matter - I mean, of course a lot of the really young kids are not going to know better because they've only been living for four years and are still trying to develop the morality/patience/etc skills most need to get on with life - because anyone can be a fucking brat.
Doesn't matter if someone is four or forty. I have met six-year olds who could have been the perfect picture of zen Buddhists. I have met people are older than me with whom I just wanted to block their heads off solely for the reason that they take temper tantrums that we associate with four year olds.
Funny thing is, among all the people I've ever dealt with over the internet...it's adults that I have most trouble with. Yeah, with all the preteens on the computer I've had much more people older than me come and begin whining and complaining about something (this something is usually a little girl's show about ponies). And then in real life...I've seen more adults who hold the 'I know more things than you do so I'm above you' attitude that preteens/teens can hold as well.
I have admitted in another stamp that one of my few berserk buttons is whiny people between the ages of 11-15...but that doesn't mean I fucking hate all preteens and young teens...especially when what I've seen is on the internet and most people gain a good level of stupidity on here. As the same I don't hate any of the adults that act like they're two again. They can be annoying but honestly, the annoyance soon turns into a bit of amusement and a smidgen of pity.
But either way, why discriminate? Just hate frikking everyone around you on the grounds that they may just act like the more bratty kids you hold a hatred against. c:
My brother pulled into a parking space next to a woman who seemed in her 40's once, and she began throwing a temper tantrum, claiming that she waited for hours to get a parking space, when there was clearly the one next to her. She kept going on, basically throwing a tantrum, and threatened to key the car. What the seemingly ironic thing was that the people being mature in this situation was my brother and his friends, who are in their early 20s. When the woman presumably ended her tantrum, she actually did key the car while my brother and his friends were inside. Even worse was that she had her kid with her, and now the kid is going to think it's okay to key cars, and when he's confronted, he'll say something like "My mommy did it so it must be okay!"
My over 60 year old grandmother is the biggest brat in the world, when I lived with her for a month she acted like a little kid and then freaked out when I got irritated at her for acting so immaturely.
I have had people from 30-45 years old be complete brats toward me, so yes, ANY age can be a brat.
The worst case for me was when a 30-year-old woman acted like she was 14. She had a complete hissy shit fit, cussed me out, and then started posting libelous bullshit about me in her dA journals. Why? Because I gave her an honest, real critique. After she asked for one, i.e. "Why was my work rejected by the group?" In an "excellence" group I'm a mod/judge for.
My pointing out a few minor anatomical issues that needed some work (along with a really great book rec to help her fix those issues) magically became me telling her that her anatomy "looked horribly deformed", that all of my work was perfect (even though I listed some anatomical issues I was working on myself as examples) and that "all of her work sucked."
Oh, and I was also an "asshole" because I told her to stop verbally abusing the other judges who had given her feather-light critiques, because I don't tollerate people acting like that as teenagers let alone grown-ass women. I told her to stop acting like a child, suck it up, and just work on her stuff like the rest of us do. That was a mortal sin, apparently. lol
And she publicly cried about allllll of it so her watchers would pat her ass, tell her how wonderful she was, how perfect her work is, and how much of an asshole and generaly horrible human being I was for daring to tell her something was wrong with her work after she asked for a critique.
I wish I was making that up, too, but I am unfortunately not... part of me still can't believe that she was actually for real with how utterly ridiculously she behaved.
I've seen people's who are supposed be in college act like they can treat people however they want because they're adults. WTF uh last time I checked they don't rule DeviantART so what gives them the right to act like their royalty?
